Our annual Churchwide Fast is a spiritual journey designed to align our hearts, habits, and hopes with God. This fast is not only about food—it is about focus, discipline, and spiritual growth. Each day carries a clear biblical theme, helping us move intentionally from preparation to transformation and finally to victory.
Below is a full guide to help you walk through the fast with understanding, expectation, and unity.
How the Fast Works: Fasting Phases
The fast is structured in progressive phases, allowing both your body and spirit to adjust as the commitment deepens.
Phase I: Days 1–7 (January 5–11)
Spiritual Preparation Phase
Diet remains the same
No alcohol (including wine and beer)
Smoking should be reduced as much as possible
This phase is about cleansing, discipline, and preparation. Avoid a “last hoorah.” Begin gently disengaging from habits that dull spiritual sensitivity.
Phase II: Days 8–14 (January 12–18)
Dietary Discipline Increases
No starches (bread, pasta, rice)
No sodas or sports drinks
Phase III: Days 15–21 (January 19–25)
Further Consecration
No dairy (milk, cheese, butter, etc.)
No candy, snacks, or sugary products
Sugarless gum only
Phase IV: Days 22–28 (January 26–February 1)
Daniel-Style Commitment
No meat or poultry
Only fruits, vegetables, and water
No canned foods if possible
