At Bethel Baptist Church, we join the nation in commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man whose unwavering faith and steadfast commitment to justice continue to inspire generations.
Today, we remember not only the dream he envisioned but also the tireless work he undertook to bring that dream closer to reality.
Dr. King’s life was a testament to the power of faith in action. Guided by God’s love, he challenged injustice with courage, advocated for the marginalized, and taught us that true leadership is rooted in humility and service. His words remind us that “the time is always right to do what is right,” calling us to live out our faith through tangible acts of love, justice, and mercy.

As a church, we reflect on how Dr. King’s legacy intersects with our own mission: to serve God and serve others. Let us take this day to recommit ourselves to walking in faith, standing for justice, and embodying Christ’s love in every interaction. Whether through acts of kindness, prayer, or advocacy, we each have the opportunity to honor Dr. King’s vision and continue his work in our communities.

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite our congregation and community to reflect, remember, and act—living out faith with courage, love, and a commitment to justice. Together, we can ensure that Dr. King’s dream continues to grow and bear fruit in the hearts and lives of all God’s children.

“Faith without works is dead” — James 2:17
This scripture reminds us that true faith is not just belief, but action—living out God’s love in tangible ways. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. exemplified this truth in every step he took toward justice, equality, and mercy. His faith was active, not passive; it moved him to march, to speak, and to sacrifice for the good of others.
As we honor Dr. King today, let us remember that our own faith calls us to more than words. May we honor him by being faithful to our calling, in word and in deed—serving others, standing for justice, and allowing our actions to reflect the love and righteousness of God in our communities. In doing so, we continue the work of Dr. King, embodying a faith that is alive, visible, and transformative.
